How to use the apostrophe ... properly.

Do you suffer from Apostrophobia, or the irrational fear of putting an apostrophe in the wrong place?

Do you worry that your written work would not look out of place in a green grocer's shop?

Do you twitch if you see an 's' without an apostrophe nearby?  Do you twitch if you do see an apostrophe?

Does it all just seem so very, very hard...

Relax.  Everything you need to know is here for you -  any time you need it.

Welcome to Apostrophes 101.

The apostrophe has two - and only two - functions:

   1. to indicate that something is missing, such as in a contraction; and
   2. to indicate ownership.

It is never, EVER used to indicate a plural. Ever.

I promise.
